Today we learned that our beloved eldest feline son has diabetes.  His vet kindly explained just how bad his glucose levels are and what type of insulin treatment and diet is needed.  Unfortunately, he will need insulin injections every 12 hours.  His doctor said he could survive another year, or even three years, if we can control his diabetes.

Saby’s illness is just the worst news.  It really is.  He is my angel, the sweetest boy in the world and the most special.  His capacity to love continues to amaze me as does his sensitivity.  He always knows when we’re feeling down and supports us unconditionally.  Through all three miscarriages, Saby was my little shadow, always by my side, offering his love and support, getting me through the tough times.  And the thought of losing him or any of our other feline babies breaks my heart, as does the thought that they may hurt or suffer.

So, today is a sad day for Greg and I.  After the initial tears subsided, we immediately became proactive, buying his new food and having the insulin called into the pharmacy.  The next step is another vet appointment where we learn how to inject him.

Greg and I will continue to love Saby with all of our hearts, doting on him and enjoying each and every day we have with him.  The sadness is still there, I’m just trying not to dwell on it.  Our little angel deserves so much more than that.

Hubby and I watched Fantastic Four Rise of the Silver Surfer on our big screen this weekend and I thought it was a great movie.  Why?  Well, the special effects were impressive and they brought my favorite bad guy back, Julian McMahon, as Dr. Victor von Doom.  I think Julian McMahon is a great actor and plays bad guys I just love.  He did so in Charmed where he played the tortured demon Cole Turner and in Nip/Tuck where he portrays the sleazy Dr. Christian Troy.  In Silver Surfer, Julian steals the show, reprising his role of villian Victor as he again seeks power and revenge.

If you haven’t yet seen it, check out Silver Surfer.  Julian McMahon is well worth it, I promise!

Well, tonight brings my Friday night shows Ghost Whisperer and Moonlight.  If you haven’t seen Moonlight yet, I highly recommend it.  It’s about a Private Investigator, Mick St. John,  who happens to be a 90 year old vampire.  The female lead, played by Sophia Myles, has a history with Nick … she was abducted by his ex-wife as a child and he rescued her.  It’s a smart show with some sarcastic humor that I think is very funny.  It is also shaping up to be a love story.  Check it out and let me know what you think.

Now, after a topic like Moonlight, how I jump to mascara I know not, yet I am.  I tried Maybeline’s Define-A-Lash™ Lengthening Washable Mascara after hearing some rave reviews and I’ve gotta say I love it.  I’m typically a MAC girl, yet am ditching my MAC Mascaras for this one.  It lengthens like nothing I’ve ever worn, without clumping.

So, there you have it.  My two tips for today … Moonlight and Maybeline’s Define-A-Lash™ Lengthening Washable Mascara.

Have a great weekend!

I heard that each of us, on average, spends 50+ hours a year in traffic.  Can you believe it?   At first I thought it was a large number but, with so many road construction and lane closures of late, I’m now wondering if that’s a low estimate.  Personally, I’ve been spending 1/2 hour+ in traffic weekday mornings and evenings (double my usual drive time).

I usually play audio books to relax and am currently listening to HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF BLOOD PRINCE.  If you haven’t yet heard Jim Dale narrate the HARRY POTTER novels, you must do so!  He does a wonderful job and absolutely nails characters like Professors McGonagall, Snape, Lupin and Dumbledore.

So, what do you think of the traffic estimate?  How much time do you spend in traffic and what do you do to make it tolerable?
