Historical Romance
Rating 5 Cups

Gwendolyn Mac Alistair has worked for years to please her cold and distant father. When he announces her engagement to Keir, a man she can barely tolerate, Gwen is devastated. Her love for an English Duke, Sebastian, seems the perfect solution to her problems.

Sebastian had paid for his father’s sins and vows to never fall in love. When he sees Gwen he fights his attraction to her, but knows she is the one he wants.

As Gwen’s father tells her that he must fulfill her duty, she and Sebastian know that they should be together. Hopefully the two will find a way to save Gwen, without causing even more pain in the long run.

Dance with Deception is a lush and endearing romance that hooked me at the beginning. The lead characters have just what they need to stay fresh and the plot has enough twist and turns to keep readers enthralled. I really enjoyed the reactions to catching one in a lie. The hurt feeling and grudge-holding make the characters seem very real. That true love aspect of the story is as touchingly romantic as anything I have read recently. While not an overtly sexual book, in my opinion, the romance scenes are quite interesting. The family dynamic is the major backdrop of the story and keeps the story exciting. Seeing the story develop had me quickly turning pages until the end. The dialogue is perfect for the time frame. The background support is wonderful, and a twist of the plot at the end is great. As a first book I am wholly impressed by Ms. Goodwin and look forward to the next two of the series.

Yes, I do love that Toby song.  In my case, it refers to my very first interview.  Thanks so much to Tammy King at Night Owl Romance for a great interview!

First, I have a confession to make … I love my DVR.  Truly, I do.  It allows me to keep up with my favorite shows.  Without it, I’d miss all of them as my husband and I really don’t watch most shows “live” with the exception of news.  So, thanks to our trusty DVR, we are keeping up with our favorites.  And so far non have disappointed.

What do I love the most?  UGLY BETTY.  It is better than ever, not an easy feat considering some shows lose steam in the second season (case in point: DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES).  UGLY BETTY has escaped from the Sophomore Curse, though.  Last week’s episode (Something Wicked This Way Comes) was fabulous!  I loved the incorporation of the Broadway Soundtrack of WICKED.  Last night’s episode, focusing on Bradford & Wilhelmina’s wedding was also a laugh out loud fabulous episode.  Amanda singing Milkshake in front of a church full of people … priceless.  Even Perfect Posh Victoria Beckham’s storyline was funny.

The next show that I love is BOSTON LEGAL although I must admit that I still miss Craig Bierko.  James Spader and William Shatner have the best fictional male relationship portrayed on TV and are truly funny and heartwarming.  The season is just beginning but both my husband and I are glued to the set.

DANCING WITH THE STARS anyone?  I was so angry that Sabrina Bryan was booted off the show (what a talent) but am thrilled to see Melanie Scary Spice Brown still going strong.  I still love the Spice Girls and vote for Mel B. every week.  I also can’t wait for the release of their new CD.  Spice up your life!

My favorite new show is still MOONLIGHTI LOVE IT!  Enough said.

As for most improved shows, I vote for DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES and GHOST WHISPERER.  I watch both last season however felt that the seasons fell flat.  Not so with this season.  They’re my most improved.

Your turn!  What is your favorite returning show and does it measure up to last season?  And what new show can’t you live without?
