First, let me say that I miss MOONLIGHT! The last episode that aired was fabulous; I loved the Coraline back-story and her connection to the King of France. MOONLIGHT left me wanting more … but there are no more episodes completed! GASP! How could this be? According to Kristin Dos Santos at E! online, MOONLIGHT has aired what could be the last episode of the season due to the writers’ strike. And it hasn’t yet been picked up for next season. Her blog post has given me hope that it will be picked up, though! Check it out at http://www.eonline.com/gossip/kristin/detail/index.jsp?uuid=5b7a608b-fe24-473a-b258-118c24e3d92e and tell me what you think. There’s also an interview with Alex O’Loughlin … what more could you ask for?
Now onto UGLY BETTY … last week’s episode was hysterical! Becki Newton stole the show (which she does almost every week) with her portrayal of self-obsessed Amanda. In this episode, Amanda reaches out to illegitimate dad Gene Simmons. When letters and Father’s Day cards don’t work, she resorts to joining a band named IRS (a group of accountants) and sings her way to Gene’s heart. This scene was laugh out loud funny! Congrats to Becki Newton on another stellar performance! This actress is incredible and she is one of the many reasons to watch UGLY BETTY!
Lastly, LOST returns this week. HOORAY! This news helps me miss MOONLIGHT slightly less (albeit ever so slightly). What will happen? Your guess is as good as mine. One thing I do know is that it will keep me guessing (it always does). I also know that my favorite characters are back – Locke (I love Terry O’Quinn’s portrayal) and Sawyer. These two are incentive enough for me to watch as are the previews which have been cryptic as ever. I can’t wait for the return of LOST this week!
So, what have you garnered from this blog post? Let us recap:
Becki Newton rocks UGLY BETTY.
LOST is going to be as addictive and as confusing as ever.
I need MOONLIGHT to be renewed! Please CBS, hear my plea! Alex O’Loughlin and Sophia Myles must return next season! This die-hard fan can’t do without her MOONLIGHT!
Class dismissed! Until tomorrow …
Have you been watching MASTERPIECE THEATER for their COMPLETE JANE AUSTEN lineup? If not, I suggest you do so immediately! Every Sunday evening between now and April 6th, they are airing an adaptation of all Jane Austen novels as well as a bio pic about her life.
Last night, NORTHANGER ABBEY aired and it was fabulous! PERSUASION was equally enjoyable last week! Next up is MANSFIELD PARK followed by MISS AUSTEN REGRETS then the extraordinary PRIDE AND PREJUDICE featuring Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy. EMMA and SENSE AND SENSIBILITY conclude the series.
It is wonderful that PBS is devoting two months to Jane Austen’s works and I am glued to my set, DVR recording like crazy. For more info, go to http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/masterpiece/austen/index.html
Until tomorrow …
Dear Mr. Romo:
As a fan of the Dallas Cowboys, I was very excited at the prospect of seeing the team in the NFC Championship and, hopefully, this year’s Super bowl. With that said, your team lost last evening. It was sad, it was disappointing. Was it avoidable?
Much has been said about the vacation you took with Jessica Simpson prior to your playoff loss yesterday. Even your teammate, Terrell Owens, has jumped to your defense stating that the press’ attention to your vacation is unfair. While I love Terrell, I beg to differ … it is more than fair. And here are my reasons:
1) You get paid millions of dollars to play football, from the pre-season to the post season. To take a vacation right before the playoffs gives people a perception that you don’t take your job seriously and let’s be honest … perception is a large part of life.
2) By taking your vacation right before the playoffs and by your team losing, you made the Cowboys the punch line to so many jokes. The team, which worked so hard all season and accomplished so much, is now reduced to a punch line. It is sad and so disrespectful … to the team’s owner, to your teammates (some of whom are defending you) and to your fans … the ones that pay for Tono Romo merchandise and proudly wear your Jersey.
3) Many of your fans work 5 days a week, 52 weeks a year. Yes, we get vacation time but many of us don’t take that time when it is inconvenient for our employers. It is a sacrifice we make without earning the millions that you do.
I don’t want to deny you a quality of life. Enjoy your months off. Take as many vacations you want. Then start your next season ready to prove that your job matters, that what your fans think matter. Your fans trust that you want what they do … for the Cowboys to get as far as they can and, hopefully, make it to the big game. They want for the Cowboys to be respected for their performances on the field, not their choices off the field.
Okay, everyone, it is your turn … let me know what you think. Am I way off base in my letter to Tony Romo? Is the press being to hard on him? Am I? I look forward to your comments.
And now, since I want to leave this blog on a positive point, the Green Bay Packers’ game on Saturday was fantastic! There is nothing better to watch that a gritty football game in the snow. The Packers and Seahawks should both be commended for giving us a great game. Congratulations to the Packers for a spectacular win!
It was reported this morning that yet another AMERICAN IDOL contestant was dropped from her record label. Yep, this illustrious honor goes to runner-up Katherine McPhee who joins winners Reuben Studdard and Taylor Hicks, all of whom have been dropped from their record labels in the past week.
Does this come as a surprise? Not really — at least not for me. Don’t get me wrong … I love IDOL and have bought CDs by quite a few IDOL artists but not from Katherine, Rueben or Taylor. Truth be told, my favorites (with the exception of Kelly Clarkson) don’t usually win. Case in point: Clay Aiken, Chris Daughtry, Elliot Yamin and Blake Lewis. I’ve purchased their CDs and have also bought Carrie Underwood’s (all of which are fabulous).
Here’s the question: does the IDOL winner represent the person with the most fans or does it represent the person with the most zealous fans? I think it is the later. People vote multiple times but will only purchase one CD. Hence the poor sales for winners such as Reuben and Taylor.
I can’t blog about IDOL without mentioning that it returns next week. YEAY! Also, I have to mention Blake Lewis’ CD (last year’s runner-up). AUDIO DAYDREAM is fantastic! I was listening to it on my way into work again this morning and must admit that I am hooked! It is a great first CD and Blake’s style reminds me somewhat of Justin Timberlake which is funny because when Blake was competing he was never compared to Justin (another contestant was). If you want a great CD, I recommend this one to you. It joins CDs by Daughtry, Clay Aiken, and Kelly Clarkson as one of my IDOL favorites.
Now it is your turn … tell me what you think.
